Commercial fire in Worth 1-1-12
The North Palos Fire Protection District responded to a fire at a Chinese restaurant located at 113th Street and Harlem Avenue in Worth just before 1:00 PM on Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the 30-by-60 foot Canton Express fully engulfed in flames. According to North Palos Chief Dan Russell, the structure was severely compromised, with parts of it partially collapsing, forcing crews to fight the fire from the exterior.
The Chicago Tribune reported that firefighters arrived around 12:48 PM and found the restaurant completely consumed by fire. Due to the unstable condition of the building, crews had to take a defensive approach, using elevated master streams from tower ladders and aerial apparatus to control the blaze.

A third image shows North Palos Engine 823 positioned near a hydrant, with the restaurant’s outside wall having collapsed during the fire.
Additional photos capture firefighters directing hand lines into the structure to extinguish hot spots, as well as mutual aid units like Roberts Park Truck 31 arriving on scene. North Palos Truck 804 was also seen stationed in front of the burning building, while the MABAS Division 21 Rehab Unit from Bridgeview provided support.
