Commercial fire in Worth 1-1-12
The North Palos Fire Protection District responded to a fire at a Chinese restaurant located at 113th Street and Harlem Avenue just before 1:00 PM on Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters found the 30-by-60 foot Canton Express fully engulfed in flames. According to North Palos Chief Dan Russell, the building’s structural integrity was severely compromised, with parts of the structure already collapsing, forcing crews to fight the fire from the exterior.
The Chicago Tribune covered the incident, reporting that firefighters arrived around 12:48 PM and were met with a fully involved building. Due to the unstable condition of the structure, crews had to take a defensive approach, using elevated master streams from both the North Palos Fire Department and the Chicago Ridge Fire Department to combat the blaze.

A third image captures North Palos Engine 823 positioned near a hydrant, with the restaurant's outside wall seen collapsing during the fire.
Additional photos show firefighters directing hand lines into the structure to extinguish remaining hot spots, as well as mutual aid units like Roberts Park Truck 31 arriving on scene. The MABAS Division 21 Rehab Unit from Bridgeview was also present, providing support for the crews.
