In Kenosha County, west of the 'I', the search for John Spoor, a 66-year-old man from McHenry, Illinois, continues today on Silver Lake. According to a statement from Kenosha County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth, the search efforts will focus first on the shoreline areas before resuming the sonar search in the deeper parts of the lake. Assistance from cadaver dogs is also expected to aid in the search.
Spoor was reported missing by his family on Tuesday. His empty boat and vehicle were discovered at the Silver Lake village. Initial search operations ran from approximately 10:30 PM on Tuesday until 2 AM on Wednesday, and then resumed from 8 AM to around 8 PM on Wednesday. The search involves multiple agencies, including the Wisconsin DNR, Kenosha Sheriff’s Marine Unit, Silver Lake Fire Department, Salem Township Fire Department, and Randall Township Fire Department.
As of the latest update at 1:55 PM, County Dive Team members have been called out to respond to the Silver Lake village boat launch for a non-emergency situation.
