Frankfort House Fire 1-2-12
Last night, a house fire broke out in Frankfort’s neighborhood, and I happened to capture some photos while responding to the incident. Here’s what unfolded according to my observations:
Upon arrival, Frankfort Ladder Company 2 found intense flames erupting from both the front and back of a two-story, single-family home. The firefighters wasted no time in initiating an aggressive attack, deploying water from the exterior to suppress the fire before entering the structure. Despite the biting cold—temperatures hovering around 20 degrees—the team managed to avoid any issues with their water supply and quickly brought the blaze under control.
The address where this all went down was 19949 Spruce Drive, and the date was January 2, 2012. Several departments were involved in the operation, including Frankfort Fire Department, Tinley Park Truck 204, Matteson Ambulance 2, and Manhattan Squad 1216.
I’ve included some images below that showcase different stages of the firefighting efforts. In the first picture, you can see Frankfort Ladder 2's crew preparing to enter the building after dousing the interior with water. Another shot highlights the team just moments before they gained access inside. Moving on, there’s a photo capturing the crew from Frankfort Engine 1 venting the rear of the building to improve ventilation and safety conditions. Further along, you’ll notice Ladder 2’s crew positioned on the roof, alongside a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) stationed at the front entrance. And finally, the initial image shows Frankfort Ladder 2 already having established a main line to the roof while multiple hose lines were operational.

These images truly captured the dedication and professionalism of our local firefighters as they worked tirelessly in challenging conditions to protect lives and property. It’s always humbling to witness such teamwork in action.
