Frankfort House Fire 1-2-12
Last night, I witnessed a significant house fire in Frankfort’s neighborhood while passing by. I quickly pulled over, grabbed my camera, and started capturing images as the situation unfolded. Here’s what I saw and documented:
Frankfort Ladder Company 2 was the first to arrive on the scene. When they got there, heavy flames were already visible from both the front and back of this two-story, single-family home. The firefighters wasted no time—they immediately began a rapid attack from the exterior using high-pressure water streams before entering the structure. Despite the freezing temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Fahrenheit, the crews managed to keep their water supply intact and swiftly brought the blaze under control.
The address of the incident is 19949 Spruce Drive, and it happened on January 2nd, 2012. Alongside Frankfort Fire Department, units from Tinley Park TL204, Matteson A2, and Manhattan SQ1216 also joined forces to assist in extinguishing the fire.
I have included some photos below that capture key moments during the operation. In one image, you can see Frankfort Ladder 2’s team working diligently to suppress the flames inside the building. Another shot highlights the same ladder company’s crew preparing for action just before gaining access. A third photograph shows the brave firefighters from Frankfort Engine 1 venting the rear portion of the building to help manage smoke and heat. There’s also an image featuring Ladder 2’s crew setting up operations on the roof, with a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) positioned at the front of the property for added safety.
Finally, another compelling picture captures the initial response where Frankfort Ladder 2 arrives equipped with a powerful main line directed toward the roof and multiple hoses deployed throughout the area.
