Prevention and remedial measures of wheat cold injury in early spring

In the early spring, cold injury refers to the fact that the wheat has passed the “spring” season and entered the period of returning green joints. Due to the arrival of the cold wave, the surface temperature drops below 0°C and the frost hazard occurs. Because at this time the climate has gradually warmed, and suddenly came the cold wave, it is also known as late spring.
The most appeared in March and early April in Hubei, Henan, Anhui, and Jiangsu. Because in March, the wheat in Hubei, Henan, Anhui, and Jiangsu had already completed the development of the vernalization and illumination stages, the development of the vernalization resistance of wheat during the vernalization period was reduced, and the jointing began after the illumination stage, completely losing the resistance. Below the °C low temperature capability, when the cold wave comes, the weather is clear and no wind at night, and the surface temperature drops below 0 °C, it will cause frost damage in early spring. For example, in the areas along the Yangtze River and Huaibei of Anhui Province, 1994 was a warm winter year, and the winter wheat period grew faster. Three cold waves occurred on March 4, March 14 and early April 1995, and wheat seedlings occurred in the spring cold wave that followed. It is endangered, especially if early spring sowing of varieties is severely affected; for example, in early April 2007, some parts of southern Shandong experienced a day of low temperature below 0°C at night, resulting in serious loss of grain after heading. phenomenon.
In order to prevent frost damage in early spring, first of all, from the planting basis, it is necessary to select winter, semi-winter or spring varieties suitable for the local climatic conditions according to local conditions, because the winter and spring of the varieties are planted in appropriate period, do not sow prematurely; use semi-precision sowing Technology; changing all nitrogen fertilizers at the end of the application of "a shelling" for the combination of topdressing and topdressing and other measures, can nurture strong seedlings, with strong cold resistance. Secondly, to moderately inhibit the growth of wheat growing overly prosperous. The main measures are repression in early spring and Zhuangfengan spraying at the beginning. Because suppression of Wang Miao, can inhibit the rapid growth and development of wheat, to avoid its premature jointing and reduce cold resistance. For example, in the late autumn and early winter of 2004, after discovering that there were a large number of flourishing wheat fields, local agricultural technical departments had instructed farmers to suppress Wang Miao. Investigation revealed that in the repressed wheat fields, wheat was lightly damaged in early spring; spraying Zhuangfeng'an in the erection period. First, it can properly inhibit growth and development, improve cold resistance, and second, it can inhibit excessive elongation of the first internode and improve lodging resistance. Again, irrigation can be used to prevent cold damage in early spring. Watering before the onset of cold spells in early spring can increase the amount of water vapor in the near-surface air. When condensation occurs, latent heat is released to reduce the variation of ground temperature. At the same time, soil moisture increases after irrigation, the soil thermal conductivity increases, and the soil temperature increases.
Wheat suffered freezing damage. The remedial measures were compensatory fertilizer and watering. Wheat is a crop with tillering properties. Wheat fields that suffer from frost damage in early spring will not freeze all of them, and small axillary buds may grow into grains with long components. As long as the management is strengthened, a good harvest can still be obtained. Wheat that was chilled and damaged in early spring should be immediately applied with available nitrogen fertilizer and watering. The synergistic effect of nitrogen and moisture will promote early tillering of wheat and small tillers, increase the tillering percentage of tillers, increase panicles per acre, and reduce the loss of freezing damage. In addition, Jianghuai area should pay attention to drain ditch. For frozen wheat, we must pay more attention to conservation of the root system and enhance its ability to absorb nutrients so as to ensure the restoration of leaves and the occurrence of new tillers and the emergence of spikes.
