Lubrication System Components
An automatic lubrication system (ALS), also known as a centralized lubrication system, is designed to deliver precise amounts of lubricant to various points on a machine while it's in operation. These systems are typically fully automated, but even those requiring manual activation can still be considered centralized lubrication systems. They are generally divided into two main categories that often share similar components.
Oil systems are commonly used for stationary equipment such as CNC machines and industrial machinery. Grease systems, on the other hand, are ideal for mobile applications like trucks, mining vehicles, and construction equipment.
A typical system includes a controller/timer, pump with reservoir, supply lines, distributors/metering valves, and feed lines.
