Where are they now … CFD Light Wagon 9-1-6

Hi everyone, I just came across some interesting photos while searching for Homer's newer ambulance online. These vehicles currently belong to Homer Glen Emergency Management. The light truck—I believe it used to be Chicago Fire Department's Light Wagon 9-1-6—and the ambulance is a former Northwest Homer unit. The first image shows what they call "The Illuminator," which is packed with features like a 15,000-watt generator, a light rack, and a light tower. This truck is incredibly versatile, capable of providing power in emergencies where electricity lines are down and lighting up even the darkest scenes. It’s truly impressive how much it can do! In the second photo, you’ll see another angle of the same vehicle. The Squad546 shared this picture, giving us a closer look at its setup. It looks like they’ve kept many of the original elements intact but added some modern touches that make it even more functional. Then there’s the third photo featuring the same vehicle from a different perspective. It’s fascinating to see how they’ve adapted older equipment to serve current needs. The attention to detail is remarkable, especially considering its role as an emergency resource. Lastly, there’s an image of their equipment truck. This one doesn’t have all the flashy lights but serves a crucial purpose in transporting necessary gear wherever it’s needed most. The Homer Glen EMA did a great job documenting everything so we can get a better understanding of their fleet. It’s always exciting to learn about how communities prepare themselves for emergencies. These vehicles play such an important role in keeping people safe during tough times. If anyone has more information or personal experiences with these rigs, feel free to share! Take care, [Your Name]
