Swapping out the engine air filter is a breeze—just locate the two clips holding the housing in place. The cabin air filter, however, can be a bit more challenging to access.

Engine Air Filter

Chances are, your engine air filter is one of the simplest components to find and replace. Here’s how:

1. Look for two clips securing the air filter housing to its base. Once you release them, the housing will easily come apart.
2. Remove the existing air filter and replace it with a new one.
3. Reassemble the housing by snapping the clips back into place.

Cabin Air Filter

While not as commonly known, the cabin air filter plays a crucial role in maintaining fresh air inside your vehicle. Neglecting it might lead to unpleasant odors or reduced airflow. Follow these steps to replace it:

1. Access the cabin air filter by opening the glove compartment. There should be two stoppers along the hinge; push them inward to lower the glove compartment.
2. Once the glove compartment is out of the way, you’ll see a white filter tray. Remove it carefully.
3. Take out the old filter and insert a new one in its place.
4. Reverse the process to reinstall the glove compartment.

A clean engine air filter ensures optimal performance, while a fresh cabin air filter keeps your FJ Cruiser smelling great. Both upgrades contribute to a more enjoyable driving experience.
