Skokie Engine 17 rehabbed
Jef Rudolph reports that Skokie Engine 17 has just returned from Renewed Performance, Inc. (RPI) after undergoing a full body and paint restoration, along with the installation of new LED lighting and some minor repairs to the pump system. The engine is expected to be back in service next week, marking an important milestone for the Skokie Fire Department.
Engine 17, a Pierce Saber 11 model, had been out of service for several weeks while undergoing a comprehensive overhaul. The upgrades include not only aesthetic improvements like fresh paint and updated graphics but also functional enhancements such as the LED lighting system, which should improve visibility and energy efficiency. The pump work, though minor, ensures that the engine will be fully operational and ready for emergency response when it returns to duty. This maintenance project reflects the department’s commitment to keeping its equipment in top condition for the community it serves.
