Riverwoods house fire 1-27-12
A Riverwoods resident called the fire department just before 5 a.m. on Friday to report a house fire next door. The blaze was coming from one of the garages near Robinwood and Duffy Lanes. When Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a home still in the final stages of construction at #2 Wildflower Lane. Heavy smoke and flames were visible inside one of two two-car garages, with part of the metal overhead door already damaged. The entire house was filled with thick smoke, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a working fire. Additional units responded, including an engine from Deerfield and a tanker from Prospect Heights.
The fire was quickly contained to the garage and adjacent entryway within about 20 minutes. Firefighters from both local departments worked efficiently to bring the situation under control. Larry Shapiro and Tim Olk were on site and captured several images of the incident.
