Riverside Box Alarm 6-20-13

Here’s a report from Drew Gresik about the recent fire at Riverside’s Box Alarm on Northgate Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the basement with heavy smoke coming out of the chimney. Command assigned Engine 1621 to make a direct attack on the fire while Truck 1629 handled roof ventilation. The fire was under control within 20 minutes. Although there were no visible flames in the photos, some interesting shots captured the smoke patterns before crews entered the structure.

The attached images show several fire apparatus and the affected building. It's worth noting that Forest View Fire Department is currently using the Darien-Woodridge reserve engine marked “Southwest United Fire Districts” because both of their own units are out of service due to water damage from a severe flood a month ago. Meanwhile, LaGrange has renumbered their old Pierce engine and still uses it for M/A (mutual aid) calls.
