Product Design & Manufacturing Collection gets massive additions--at no additional cost

Simulation and CAM enhance product development with greater integration and completeness

I’ve spent a lot of time speaking with manufacturers across industries like automotive, industrial machinery, and consumer goods. One thing has become increasingly clear: they want a simpler, more streamlined software experience. They’re looking for one unified set of tools that work seamlessly together, allowing designers to easily hand off 3D models to engineering teams for simulation and testing, and then for production teams to create machining plans. Take the example of a company like Briggs Automotive Company (BAC), a UK-based supercar manufacturer. They need to turn their elegant design concepts into real-world engineering solutions that can be digitally simulated and then manufactured on CNC machines. To do this efficiently, they must avoid the constant file conversions and repairs that come with traditional workflows—plus the risks those introduce during change management. In response to this growing demand, we’ve made a major update to our Product Design Collection. Until now, it focused mainly on design and engineering. But now, we’re adding simulation and CAM tools to make it even more powerful. As a result, we’re renaming it the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection. Specifically, we're including world-class simulation software, Nastran In-CAD, and top-tier CAM software, Autodesk HSM. These two tools used to cost over $7,000 per year combined. However, because we believe in the power of integrating design, engineering, and manufacturing, we’re offering them free of charge with the collection. The price remains at just $2,460 per year in the U.S. Starting this week, the updated collection provides all the professional-grade tools any product development team needs—from initial design and engineering through to production. It includes integrated 2D and 3D CAD, CAE, and CAM applications for complete product development and manufacturing planning. Another way to look at it is that this update delivers the best Inventor experience ever. Inventor Professional’s advanced modeling and automation tools are now paired with simulation, 5-axis CAM, and factory planning features—all fully integrated into the Inventor workflow. Subscribers also benefit from a future-ready toolset. While not every update will be as significant as this one, we’re committed to continuous improvements, incorporating tools like Fusion 360, and introducing new technologies such as generative design. You still get AutoCAD, Navisworks, Vault, ReCap Pro, 3ds Max, Factory Design Utilities, and more.

In short, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts—but each part is already impressive. These enhanced workflows take Inventor beyond its traditional design focus and into the realm of manufacturing, helping customers achieve more than ever before. Don’t just take my word for it. Ian Briggs, Co-Founder and Design Director of BAC, recently shared his thoughts: “We use the full range of Autodesk manufacturing software throughout our entire product development process—reality capture, design, engineering, fabrication, visualization, you name it. The fact that Autodesk is adding simulation and CAM to the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection at no extra cost is a huge advantage for us and other manufacturers who want a complete, integrated software solution.” The Product Design & Manufacturing Collection is available worldwide, and the software is offered in more than eight languages, including English, German, Japanese, French, and Chinese.
