Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire, 11-17-15 (part 5)
I just witnessed something absolutely shocking last night around 10 PM. A massive commercial building was completely engulfed in flames right in the heart of downtown. The fire was so intense that it lit up the entire sky, creating this eerie orange glow that could be seen from miles away. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it.
The building looked like it was straight out of a disaster movie. Thick plumes of black smoke were rising high into the night sky, and you could hear the occasional explosion as the heat intensified. Emergency vehicles arrived quickly, but it seemed like they were fighting an uphill battle against the sheer force of the fire. Firefighters were working tirelessly to try and contain it, but the intensity made it clear this wasn’t going to be an easy fight.
I snapped some photos with my phone—though they don’t do justice to how dramatic the scene really was. One thing is for sure; this is going to leave a significant mark on the community.
