Sinopec's first large-scale export of hydrogenation technology and catalysts

A few days ago, at the tender meeting for residue catalytic hydrogenation catalysts organized by the National Petroleum Corporation of Indonesia, the residual oil hydrogenation technology developed by the Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Chemical Industry won the bid in one fell swoop, won orders for nearly 500 tons of catalyst, and realized hydrogenation technology in China. The first large-scale export of the catalyst indicates that China's residual oil hydrogenation technology and catalyst have reached the international advanced level.

Residue hydrotreating catalysts and process technology are the complete sets of technologies developed by Milling Institute for the past two decades with independent intellectual property rights. This technology won the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2002 and successively applied in Qilu Petrochemical, Dalian West Pacific, Maoming Petrochemical, and Hainan Refining & Chemical Industry, providing strong technical support for rational utilization and deep processing of inferior or heavy crude oil. Petrochemical's 2 million-ton/year resid hydrotreating unit is designed and constructed based on this technology, breaking the monopoly of resid hydrofining technology by foreign large companies. At present, more than 130 patents have been filed around this technology and have become the fist technology of Futusian Academy.

While serving domestic enterprises, FTU actively explores the international market. Since 2002, they began to exchange technical residua hydrogenation with Indonesian National Petroleum Corporation, and have conducted two more than 10,000 hours of catalyst life tests. Together with the test results and successful experience gained in domestic industrial installations, they put forward a complete technical solution that has been approved by the Indonesian side, established as a qualified supplier, and invited to participate in the residue hydrogenation catalyst organized by the Indonesian National Petroleum Corporation. .

At the bidding meeting, the Sinopec bidding team, consisting of the Fushun Research Institute, the Catalyst Branch, and the Sinopec International Business Unit, competed with the large foreign companies such as Chevron and Albemarle on the same stage. After many rounds of hard negotiations and unremitting efforts, Sinopec has successfully won the bid in a bid with rigorous bidding plans, reasonable prices, and rigorous and pragmatic style, marking that China's residual oil hydrogenation technology and catalyst have reached the international advanced level and are equipped with International petrochemical companies compete at the same level of strength.
